"Now the cat's really out of the bag"

Films: Cat People (1982)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of average humans (or panthers).

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: You may remember a tale of sexual anxiety, loss, and black panthers a few decades ago. Well, now it's getting the 80's remake treatment. Mainly, the most unsettling aspects are played up to 11, and things are about to get more intense...

History: Irena and Paul Gallier were two siblings separated at birth due to their parents being incestuous lovers. But there was a more tragic reason for brother-sister marriages. Irena's family is made of werecats, beings who become black panthers if they have sex with anyone except family members, and must kill other people to retain human form. Naturally, this throws a monkey wrench in Irena's hopes of living a normal life, while Paul just goes with it.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Paul is shot trying to get Irena to have sex with him. Irena on the other hand asks for her new love to have sex with her so that she may live the rest of her days as a zoo-going panther and never have to kill again.

Powers/Abilities: Can turn into black panthers if they mate with other humans. Only by killing a human can they turn back.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Now we have some real panther action going on here! That, and the transformation scenes are some decent body horror for the eyes. Still, these creatures are mired in tragedy, so it's a bit hard not to feel sorry for them.

Trivia: -That kick-ass main theme was the work of none other than David Bowie. It also got used in the films, "Inglorious Basterds" and "Atomic Blonde".

-Due to the black panther's inherent aggression towards humans, the filmmakers were forced to dye some cougars black and call it a day. Then again, cougars are basically the lions of the American forests, so fair trade on that one.

Put away the tissues. This is gonna get ugly fast.

The face of brotherly affection...?
Eh. I'm kinda into that sort of thing.

Even covered in blood, you are beutiful.
Is that supposed to be a wedding gown or...

Transformation never had to be pretty.
This Black Panther remake doesn't hold a candle to the later one-oh, wait. Wrong film.
